How To Limit Your Daily Exposure To Toxins

Apr 02

Dr. Mercola writes: “There’s no doubt that most people are being exposed to too many toxic chemicals. The results are plain for all to see, as brain disorders in both the very young and the elderly are skyrocketing; not to mention that people of all ages are increasingly ravaged by chronic diseases of all kinds as well. If you want to protect your own health, and the health of your family, I believe you simply must become more vigilant about the chemicals you come into contact with on a daily basis, and this certainly includes the foods you eat. Here are a dozen recommendations that will help limit your family’s toxic exposure….

The Natural Effect

The Natural Effect

Feb 08

“All-natural” and “natural” claims are among the most commonly used claims on new food products, and annual sales of products with “natural” claims are more than $20 billion. But many products that claim to be “natural” are filled with stuff you couldn’t find in nature — including chemical additives, high fructose corn syrup and genetically engineered ingredients. In other words, only “organic” guarantees that food was produced as Mother Nature intended…

Is It Possible To Clean The Oceans In 5 Years?

Is It Possible To Clean The Oceans In 5 Years?

Feb 02

Stiv Wilson writes: “As the policy director of the ocean conservation nonprofit 5Gyres.org, I can tell you that the problem of ocean plastic pollution is massive. In case you didn’t know, an ocean gyre is a rotating current that circulates within one of the world’s oceans — and recent research has found that these massive systems are filled with plastic waste. There are no great estimates (at least scientific) on how much plastic is in the ocean, but I can say from firsthand knowledge (after sailing to four of the world’s five gyres) that it’s so pervasive it confounds the senses. Gyre cleanup has often been floated as a solution in the past, and recently Boyan Slat’s proposed ‘Ocean Cleanup Array’ went viral in a big way. The nineteen-year-old claims that the system can clean a gyre in 5 years with ‘unprecedented efficiency’ and then recycle the trash collected. The problem is that the barriers to gyre cleanup are so massive that the vast majority of the scientific and advocacy community believe it’s a fool’s errand…”

TEDx: Barrie Schwortz on The Shroud of Turin

TEDx: Barrie Schwortz on The Shroud of Turin

Jan 06

Barrie Schwortz, an Orthodox Jew, spends much of his time educating Christians that the Turin Shroud may well be an artifact of Jesus. An expert on imaging, he was the official documenting photographer for the Shroud of Turin Research Project (STURP), the 1978 team that conducted the first in-depth scientific examination of the Shroud. In 2009, he founded the Shroud of Turin Education and Research Association, Inc. (STERA, Inc.). Schwortz began as a skeptic of the shroud, but by scientific evidence became absolutely convinced of its authenticity. To be open-minded and brave enough to immerse oneself in the evidence of beliefs that go against your own, and allow yourself to be convinced of their validity, requires a courage and honesty that not many can claim. This is what Barrie Schwortz has been doing for the past 30 years…

Jill Bolte Taylor: Does Our Planet Need A Stroke Of Insight? (Updated)

I’ve come to understand that the two issues of mental health and global health are closely linked — if not one and the same. Similar processes we use to improve our mental health can help us make better, more responsible decisions as a society — by focusing on the compassion and integrity of our right brain, rather than the judgment, punishment and deception of our left brain…
