Robert Augustus Masters: Spiritual Bypassing
Feb 05Spiritual bypassing, a term first coined by psychologist John Welwood in 1984, is the use of spiritual practices and beliefs to avoid dealing with our painful feelings, unresolved wounds, and developmental needs. It is much more common than we might think and, in fact, is so pervasive as to go largely unnoticed, except in its more obvious extremes. Spiritual bypassing is a very persistent shadow of spirituality, manifesting in many forms, often without being acknowledged as such. Aspects of spiritual bypassing include exaggerated detachment, emotional numbing and repression, overemphasis on the positive, anger-phobia, blind or overly tolerant compassion, weak or too porous boundaries, lopsided development (cognitive intelligence often being far ahead of emotional and moral intelligence), debilitating judgment about one's negativity or shadow side, devaluation of the personal relative to the spiritual, and delusions of having arrived at a higher level of being...
Quote: Steven Pinker
Nov 27"It's been shown that people (both at the level of individuals and of entire societies) who have higher levels of education and measured intelligence commit fewer violent crimes, cooperate more in experimental games, have more classically-liberal attitudes, are less likely to be racist, sexist, xenophobic, homophobic, and are more receptive to democracy." -- Steven Pinker
The Hopping Stone Vision
Nov 16Deep in the southwest deserts, an old medicine man and young brave stand atop a great plateau. Together they silently survey all the Earth. After what seems like ages of absorbing all that can be seen, the old man taps his medicine stick on the ground. From twelve different directions great streaks of lightning strike the Earth, and from each place the lightning strikes, twelve great stones begin to form. As the stones form, the old man begins to sing an ancient song...
Marc Gafni’s Sexual Impropriety Re-Emerges
Sep 18"In the past several weeks, new and incontrovertible information came to light that made me aware that Marc was involved in a sexual relationship with a student and that the relationship was shrouded in secrecy. There was an obvious lack of alignment between Marc's words to me and his actions. I learned about Marc's sexual relationship with a student from another woman who was having a sexual relationship with Marc. This woman was also asked by Marc to keep her relationship with him a secret. In talking with this woman, I learned how emotionally damaging this secrecy was for her, how it cut her off from emotional support and connection. I also learned quite a bit about how she felt manipulated by Marc, about how often she witnessed Marc telling lies to cover his tracks, and how upset she was to find herself caught in such a web of lies..." -- Tami Simon, Sounds True
Nassim Haramein: Black Whole
Sep 06They are some of the biggest questions that baffle humans: how was the universe created? Are we and everything around us somehow connected as one? Why do we have a consciousness and what is its effect on reality? Physicists have spent their careers trying to crack the codes. Albert Einstein came up with the Theory of Relativity to explain creation, gravity, and space-time -- but a theory of how everything is unified eluded even him. Building on Einstein's work, Nassim Haramein developed a Unified Field Theory that unveils a specific geometric array to explain creation and the vacuum that connects all things. Is Haramein the first to make this revelation? Remarkably, Haramein found evidence all across the globe in ancient text and tradition -- in Egypt, China and Mexico. He turned to Hebrew scrolls and secret codes to uncover the pattern. Simply put, the evidence has been there for us to recognize for thousands of years...if only we knew what to look for...

In Defense of Promiscuity; In Defense Of Chastity
Feb 23Is sexual attraction driven primarily by the need to wield or submit to power? Or is it primarily a force of nature, hormones, and genetics? Or past life connections and karma? Or a subconscious effort to recreate and heal childhood wounds? Or projection -- we are physically, sexually, emotionally, mentally attracted to others according to how much we have disowned our own light and darkness and projected it onto them? Or...? In yet another attempt to understand the dynamics of this primal force, I have included three articles. The first two are written by Jun Po Denis Kelly who founded the Buddhist Hollow Bones Order. The third article is by Emily Ann Baratta, who is a former Peace Corps volunteer, a practicing Roman Catholic, and a teaching assistant at OneTaste San Francisco. While all three articles are addressed to an integrally-informed audience, I'm sure all of you will catch their drift -- and find them interesting...
Genpo Roshi Admits Affair, Disrobes As Buddhist Priest
Feb 11Famous Zen Master Genpo Roshi has announced that he is disrobing. For those not acquainted with obscure Buddhist twists on familiar phraseology, to “disrobe” as a Buddhist monk means that you formally quit the Buddhist order and give up your status as a priest and/or monk. Ironically, it was disrobing that got him into trouble in the first place. It seems that Genpo, who is married, had an affair with the woman he was grooming to be his successor...
