St. Luke’s hospital in Pennsylvania is trying something that not many have done before: growing organic food locally to feed to patients inside of the hospital. To them, treating sick people is about much more than administering medication, but administering good, hearty, delicious, and healthy food grown locally.

The St. Luke’s farm was planted in may of 2013 and is expected to grow 100,000 pounds of food per year, hospital officials say. St. Luke’s isn’t sure whether or not that amount will grow over the years and what percentage of the hospitals food can be grown locally, but more often than not, a bite of hospital food at St. Luke’s is grown in their organic farm.
